Man I gotta get off my lazy ass and write more. Inactivity in more than a week? I should ramble about that! Yet, it’s been another week and still I hadn’t improved my writing. From now i solemnly promise to try and write more (who am I kidding? we all know as soon as I post this and pester dozens of people to share it I’ll disappear for another week).
Enough of that. It doesn’t matter what people say, laziness is a virtue that we should all embrace and take seriously. I mean why torture yourself doing lots and lots of work that would really exhaust you when you have people around you to do it for you? (And this ladies and gentlemen is the basic reason why everyone strives to be a boss. This excuse right here). Cause face it, we are all lazy. It’s encoded in the human species genetic code. But what level of laziness is acceptable in society? That is where many contradictions and arguments stem from.
Take the case where a loving caring parent is on the couch watching something (especially our loving mothers). All is well until the urge from nowhere comes to want to change the channel. The controller happens to be on the other seat to her right, but the comfort she already is in prompts her to do what all young-lings and young adults don’t like but have to do anyway: She calls out your name at the top of her voice (you might think she is calling out into an abyss) for you to come all the way from wherever you are (usually upstairs or in the backyard doing some chores (yeah right! As if! ;-D) ) and pass her the controller that is literally a hand stretch away from her.
Now as much as you would want to say it’s unfair, it isn’t (I know cause I tried to argue my case and lost. Badly). This doesn’t qualify as laziness. You know what does? You waking up and not cleaning your room and that is a bad, bad thing (Oh the memories of being flogged for having an untidy room. Good times, good times. NOT).
People only seem to deem another person lazy for not doing something when the work to be done isn’t their responsibility. I know cause I am one of them :D. What we need to do is to stop calling others lazy and accept that everyone including ourselves are lazy. Laziness teaches us a lot. Look at me. I’m super neat these days, my room is always clean and I have become a real clean freak. Not in a bad creepy obsessed kind of way though. Just the normal can’t-stand-a-piece-of-paper-on-the-floor kind of clean freak.
And because I am so lazy, I am going to use an old cliche move and end this blog right here. I won’t even sign off. Naaah….I will. Arrivederci. Night Blade Out.
